Longtime Milltown water quality champion and CFRTAC volunteer Leonard Schombel died last week at the age of 94.

As a retired geophysicist, Len spent countless volunteer hours tracking the Milltown arsenic plume for CFRTAC and other groups, resulting in an expanded groundwater monitoring system.

For more on Len, see this profile from a  CFRTAC newsletter from 1999, when he was recognized as an outstanding volunteer, and this Missoulian profile, and his obiturary.

The family plans to have a celebration of his life on Saturday, April 24, at the site of the Milltown Dam.
